   49 is still a laudable number! The onigiri look great. We recently got a new rice cooker, and it’s in the same style as yours. Makes wonderfully fluffy rice.

2. @Jenn-chan: Haha, details details… Hey, thanx! But 49 what? Don’t you mean 41?… Hehe, thanx again! But a month later, instead of cubic-shaped, my onigiri look more like “real” triangular-shaped onigiri. Yeah, the Zoji is awesome. Not just fluffy Jasmine white rice, but sticky Calrose white rice too, mmm.

3. I LOVE the morbidly hilarious imagery of Zetsubou Sensei. That’s definitely one of my favorite things about the series.

   I am off to a sloooooow start watching anime this year. So far I’ve only seen NieA7, GSG Il Teatrino, Gun x Sword…. Right now I’m watching Fushugi Yugi Mysterious Play (however you spell that), which is like 8 discs of 7 episodes, so it’s taking a while. Especially with all the damn government holidays at this time of year, delaying my Netflix shipments. And the snow…. Have several on the HDD I need to watch but just haven’t gotten to it. I’m WAY behind. Still watching Bleach on TV, and FMA Brotherhood just premiered, so I’ll be watching that now too.
   Mostly I’ve been engrossed in Mass Effect 2 on the Xbox, and reading a ton of manga for reviews.
   And now there’s Olympics, lol…..

   I have been wanting to get a rice cooker. Did some poking around and learned that Zojirushi is one of the best brands you can get, that they’re supposed to last for a decade, with frequent use. It’s worth shelling out for an appliance that lasts that long, and makes for healthier eating. Hopefully I can manage to get one sometime this year.

4. @Kris-chan: Hehe, “morbidly hilarious”, but don’t you mean “hilariously morbid”? I’m pretty sure Zetsubou-sensei would appreciate the distinction as well! After all, “subtly amusing” is quite different than “amusingly subtle”, eh? Perhaps a “despair-able” distinction?

   Ah yes, I know the slooow feeling too well. I already mentioned why I’m at a snail’s pace of 1 or 2 anime per month, about half my typical annual rate: [1] Zetsubou (S3), [2] Death Note: Relight: L’s Successors, [3] Eden of the East (series), and [4] Armitage III: Poly-Matrix… Then again, I’m not too worried. Since live-action Asian films and dramas make up for it: [1] Ran, [2] Jumong (drama), [3] The Warrior, [4] Iron Monkey, and currently Dae Jang Geum (drama)… Plus real-life feels pretty good right now, where I don’t need to escape into the tube too much, hehe. I guess that’s one good thing about not having cable or digital TV!

   Yeah, the Zoji rocks! Now I can finally enjoy rice almost every day like a real Asian should! But why are you and Jenn-chan so interested in Autumn-chan? Well, like I told Jenn-chan (via Google Buzz), all I can say right now is that it still feels like autumn in Vegas, lol. ^o^

6. Long list there. Most probably more that I’ve watched over 2009, although I don’t keep lists. Lol at the ‘honorable mention’ for Akikan.

   Zetsubou shitaa… ever since I read the manga, the anime hasn’t been as entertaining. I guess that the slower pace suits me more- more time to enjoy the artwork, read all the little words that would otherwise flash by on screen (I’d normally hit the pause button, but timing is a little iffy). Oh hey, they cropped Nozomu out of the bikini’ed Abiru-chan chasing pic… probably done by some man-hater, haha.

   Rice eh. I have it all the time, so I can’t say that I’m particularly excited about this piece of news, haha. Anyway, what’s important is that you’re getting some variety in your diet. Food should always be entertaining, no? :D

7. @TT-man: Hey, thanx! I know! For a guy who never really cooked before (outside the toaster, microwave, oven to thaw, or stove to boil water), until I successfully cooked pasta last October, cooking rice is definitely an event! ^_^

   @A20-man: Ehh, maybe not as long as your Chocolate phone! Actually, 41 titles is considerably less than my typical 50, but just as I told Kris-chan above, I’m not too worried. Hey, come on, “Akikan” was a gem!

   Ahh, the “Zetsubou” pace, that’s where we differ. At first, during the first season, I needed to pause at every little flash of text or list or detail, but eventually learned to “go with the flow” of the pouring pace. If I catch the flash, that’s great. But if not, probably not worth the effort to break the flow. After all, I still enjoyed all 3 seasons, right?… Umm, if u look more closely, Nozomu wasn’t really “cropped out”, since the clouds are shifted behind Abiru-chan. Both must’ve been designed as separate but intentional wallpapers, haha.

   Ah, lucky you. But like I told TT-man, for a guy who never cooked before, including a Pop Tarts lunch phase for 3 years, pasta and rice are big steps for me! ^o^

   By the way, here is some great news!
   Media Blasters has just licensed Zetsubou Sensei, and it will be released later this year (I want to say…around May? For the first part). No English dubbing; about 6 eps/disc, for $25, which isn’t too bad. $19 through Rightstuf (which is much better).

   Haha, I did exactly the same thing. I kept pausing every few seconds to try to read everything. I realized after a while how impossible that really was, and it interrupted the flow badly…. So now I just watch and enjoy.

9. @Kris-chan: Okay-okay, you win, Ms. Morbilarious… Yeah, I think I saw the news in my Anime News Network feed. But still, at $19 per 6 episodes, that’s still $120 across 3 seasons! Ah, exactly, the flow of the show is the important thing. Although to A20-man’s point, I’d have to agree that the manga would let you catch every little flash of detail at your own pace. But similarly, if a manga volume represented several anime episodes, assuming $8 or $10 per volume, that approaches the same $120 too! Bahhh.

10. Mm, I didn’t really mind pausing to read all the lines. I was more irritated that I couldn’t always understand the text jokes, haha. Well, if you’re gonna argue it based on price… it depends on where you shop. Before I travel I always search online for shops selling second-hand Jap manga… got lucky on my CNY trip: 18 volumes of NANA for 1000 Thai Baht, and one Mushishi for 60:D

    Eh. You’ve never cooked? That’s surprising- I thought that you’d be a pretty decent chef, being a bachelor and all. I’ve never cooked either, although I suppose that google would be of great help when the time comes. Don’t think that I’ll ever touch meat that requires me to remove the blood, skin, or bones, though. Don’t even mention the head. Blecht.

11. @A20-man: Ah, I see. My perspective is that I’m glad I understood as much of the jokes as I did! Kudos to the subbers! Heyyy, according to Google’s calculator, 1000 Thai Baht is a mere $30 USD. Nice indeed. Thankfully, my passing anime addiction didn’t spread too far into manga. But figures, now that was a different story.

    Right. I mean, my ex took care of the advanced pots-and-pans cooking, plus we used to eat out or order out occasionally. So I never really cooked stuff beyond heatable, toastable or microwavable pre-packaged meals. No real necessity. Even afterwards as a bachelor. I guess a healthy new outlook in late 2009 and early 2010 finally changed all that. Sayonara “Pop Tarts”, the 3 years were fun while it lasted! Although I still can’t escape the microwavable ease of frozen boneless chicken breasts and mixed veggies. Mmm, quite tasty with rice… Umm, but I’m not gonna ask what kinda head-attached meat you’re thinking of.

12. FIRST OFF, very organized, I’m almost scared at how organized you are about keeping rack of your anime series. Gotta love Zetsubou Sensei! For Kuroshitsuji I haven’t touched the anime but I’m really enjoying the manga. Also, I need to remember to watch Tales of the Abyss. It’s easy for me to forget about that series because I played the game. But as I played the game I wished it had an anime! For Nodame Cantabile I saw season 1 but I think I’d like to read this story in manga form instead.

13. @Duckie-chan: Heyyy, what’s up? Thanx! But yeah, if you’re scared, I’m not surprised at all. It’s almost as if my organization is the result of a deep fear of losing track or losing the memory of what I’ve seen and what I thought of it, isn’t it? So watch out, my live-action tracking is starting to get more organized too, lol.

    As for “Zetsubou”, “Kurshitsuji”, “Abyss” and “Nodame”, while I can’t afford the cash on manga, or time on games, I have no doubt that manga and games tend to paint more-textured, more-in-depth worlds than their animated counterparts. But I have no problem with that. I’m satisfied with a vivid-and-varied helping of free-and-easy animation. And live-action too, hehe… Btw, have you tried any Asian dramas yet?

15. @Blur-man: Thanx, I know! I couldn’t help it. “Akikan” might be the oddest most-off-the-wall yet most-mindlessly rude-yet-romantic anime ride I’ve ever enjoyed, haha.

16. Things have been going pretty well for me :) LOL no J-Dramas yet, I was waiting on Skip Beat! But Meimi’s post on Moyashimon kind of caught my eye…I’ll consider it. But in the meantime I must watch more Jackie Chan martial arts movies, going to finish off the Drunken Master ones and then watch the Police ones. I’m not toying with you though, I really am going to try a J-Drama this year. I just thought Skip Beat! would be airing by now :(

    I ended up getting all the Nodame manga released. Although manga can be read online too.

17. @Duckie-chan: Glad to hear things are going well! But don’t let me distract you from your “Jackie Chan” phase. I went thru it too, lol. Actually, it might ease your transition into J-drama too. My recent fave in December was “Hana Yori Dango” (but not the slower K-drama version of “Boys Over Flowers”). I still need to work on Blog 220 regarding those… Haha, nahhh, even if I don’t buy manga, I’m still sensible enough to prefer the physical books over online files. If they were both free, of course. ^_~

18. Jay, you have the most remarkable organizational and track keeping skills that I’ve bear witnessed to on the interwebs. In real life, my track keeping skills for my figure purchases and monthly expenditures is extremely “anal”, but I’ve been busy with other things. If I blogged more often, I would find that I would be doing the same thing in terms of figures, anime and video games that I’ve played, but I love to write about things and I am very conscious of how it is presented and executed. In short, I don’t want to look like a damn fool, either, haha.

    I haven’t been watching a lot of anime as my time is mostly spent vegetating a lot and doing things that don’t require a greal deal of investment for a return on my happiness. I am greatly interested in the animes that you have watched. Do I feel that anime is starting to become more fake? I don’t think that I have ever used the word “fake”, but I have started to feel that animes sort of feel superficial which is similar if not different than being fake. I suppose it might be a trend from anime with meaning to it to something that is meant to appeal to the common masses. I really don’t know, but I’m just throwing that out there.

    I’d like to ask where you are getting all these wallpapers!!!! Man, I really love the wallpapers that you include in your post. If it weren’t for the added fear that my laptop is still unstable, I would be right clicking on all of them.

    Ok, here I go again…

    Your organizational and track keeping skills is truly remarkable and one of the best I have bore witness to on the interwebs. If it weren’t for all the things going on and technical difficulties, I would be organizing everything that I had done in a very similar fashion with the figures, anime and video games that I’ve experienced.

    Is that a good brand for rice cookers? I am looking to purchase a durable rice cooker to last a very long time and cook high quality rice.

    I am interested in watching a bunch of anime that you have cited because it’s not usually the mainstream ones that everyone goes gaga about. Do I feel that anime is becoming more fake? While I have not necessarily used the word “fake”, I have started to feel that anime is superficial which is similar if not identical to the word “fake”. Maybe it has to do with the trend from having meaning to appealing to the common masses, but I’m just throwing that out there.

    Where are you getting all of these wallpapers?!?! If it weren’t for the fear of technical instability, I would be right clicking each and every one of them.

    It’s good to still see you make an appearance every once in a while.

21. @Jem-chan: Aww {impromptu hugs}, thanx for the kind words. Yes, “how it is presented and executed” is one of my primary considerations, so much so that it’s rather second-nature and no longer a conscious “consideration”. Therefore, I don’t apologize for “being late” or make any weak excuses in my actual mega-casts. I’d rather do that in my less-formal replies, haha.

    Ah, fake anime. Interesting interpretation. I didn’t really mean that anime itself was changing, I was referring to our personal views changing. That our “growth” or “maturity” in 3D real life or 3D real-action dramas could throw animation into a more “superficial” or “fake” light… But if we consider your interpretation, one could argue that “moe” pop anime could be not just idealizing, but over-idealizing reality. Like getting accustomed to “fake foods” like candies and snacks and sweets to the point where “real food” like steaks and vegetables are but a distant memory, hehe… Haha, if I told you where I found these wallpapers, I’d be out of a blogging job! But hopefully, your technological instabilities will dissolve soon.

    Rice cookers! Oh yeah, definitely the Zojirushi. Top-of-the-line for decades. I wouldn’t doubt if they were built to last decades too. I mean, if the Japanese use it, then why shouldn’t we? But if you have to take someone’s word, take mine: I think my Zoji is awesome. Cooking rice almost every day for months, sometimes using the timer twice per day. My fave is Calrose white, but tried Jasmine white, even Basmati brown. Awesome.
