anna as “ichigo” in the hit japanese film “kamikaze girls” (2004) |

anna as “nana osaki” (singing voice, including opening theme song “rose”) in the japanese TV anime “NANA” (2006) |
post 353 ~ ah, anna tsuchiya!… (fellow pisces, march 11, 1984)
- hehe, my new favorite asian actress (well, half asian, half russian-american… mmm)… FUNNY how she just happens to link both the “kamikaze girls” film (from netflix) i just finished, AND the “NANA” anime episodes i just downloaded in the last couple days!… and her music video in the “kamikaze” DVD extras ain’t half bad ;)))
- FOUR STARS (out of five) for the “kamikaze” film!!!… vivid and eye-popping in the style of baz luhrmann (moulin rouge) and tarantino (kill bill) and amelie!… and so far, after just three episodes, the just-as-stylish “NANA” anime earns FIVE STARS, as long as the humor and conflict and compassion, and the heart-warming and heart-breaking memories continue! ;)))
- update ~ a-ha!… since i couldn’t take screenshots of my “NANA” downloads, i finally found it!… after years, i finally found it… a way to take screenshots in that pesky Windows Media Player!
- How do I capture a screenshot of a movie?
- For Windows Media Player, you have to disable Hardware Acceleration. You can do this in Windows Media Player 6.4 and later by clicking on View -> Options and moving the Hardware Acceleration slider to None. You can do this in Windows Media Player 7-10 by clicking on Tools > Options, going to the Performance tab, moving the Hardware Acceleration slider to None, and restarting Windows Media Player. Now you may make take a screenshot by pressing the [ALT + PRNTSCRN] combination. You can paste this screenshot into any graphics editing program (e.g. MS Paintbrush) and save the file. When you are done taking screenshots, you should move the Hardware Acceleration slider back to Full because this makes videos play smoother and look better.

yes, i’m glad you liked both! i am obsessed with NANA– and really anything written by Ai Yazawa), and so i highly recommend the manga (scanlation versions) too! if you haven’t checked it out, i also recommend Ergo Proxy — it’s been fabulous so far.

lol, thanx! ;)… in a way, i didn’t expect to like them, but since i’d heard/read good things about both, why not?… and they both turned out to be surprisingly endearing (especially nana komatsu)… plus watching anna’s music video and discovering her role in NANA was extra icing on the cake ;)))
haha, i’ll try to check out the manga on my next borders/b&n visits… although after finishing the anime, the “genshiken” manga has been my recent focus, lol… not to mention, i should catch up or finish:
+ a few more “anime insider” issues
+ a few more “newtype usa” issues
+ “blood+” episodes
+ “trinity blood episodes
+ “eureka 7″ episodes
+ “mai hime” episodes
+ “ah! my goddess – season 2″ episodes
+ and of course, “NANA” episodes 4-8
+ oh, did i mention catching up on work too? argh!
p.s. i just checked around… wow, yeah, i remember reading articles on “ergo proxy”… the dark “bladerunner” style looks amazing!… BAHHH, yet another thing on my list! ;)))

lol, hey, good question!… don’t worry, i still have your “winter” remix on my list… but didn’t you know these things go through “phases”? ;)))

hey, last night/3am, finished episode 8 of “NANA”… damn, that’s a good show (definitely FIVE STARS!)… so REAL that i feel i “know” these characters (moreso than other anime characters)… somehow i can relate to hachi from the “older guy” point of view, while i also relate to osaki’s pain of “being left behind”… but i’m probably more like yasu (skinhead + shades), hahaha ;)
and the 1st episode of “ergo proxy” was fascinating!… very “witch hunter robin” in style, with a cyberpunk/philosophical edge… thanx!!! ;)

I didn’t know she was in the Nana anime! I haven’t seen those yet but I started watching the first one in youtube. And Kamikazi girls is one of my favourite movies!! (hence the lj name now!)

hahaha, yeah, i figured that’s why i changed your LJ name ;)))
but the NANA anime is amazing! (as i’ve said above)… and i’ve seen TONS of anime!… in fact, i might even add “kamikaze girls” to my dvd collection, hehe ;)))
p.s. i checked out youtube… too bad the NANA anime is split up into pieces… lol, i guess i’m spoiled on the quality of the torrent AVIs ;)))
