Part 1 of 4. Junior High Bloodbath. Ah, finally! After several *years* in my Netflix DVD rental queue, and after last month’s enthusiastic prodding by Meimi132-chan, I finally watched the controversial Japanese film “Battle Royale” (2000) this past Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday. Am I the last otaku to watch this? LOL, here’s the iconic logo for the “Battle Royale Survival Program”. Such a blood-red on death-black design!
In fact, crossing back-and-forth several times between her post and mine, here’s our blog-versation more than a week ago.

I’ve had it on dvd for 6 years+ (wow….long time… I was 13 when I got it lol…its an 18 in the UK lol, saw it on late night ch4 and loved it.) I am in dire need of a new copy actually, the center of disc 1 has cracked… still plays fine, but its cracked, which is the beginning of the end in DVD life terms…. Its cos I lent it to people… and they didnt take proper care of it…. otherwise it would be in perfect condition, like all my dvds…. I wouldn’t buy a DVD unless I really loved it… or it was uber-cheap in a sale lol, and even then, it deserves to be looked after, like any posession, ne? Oooooo I seem to have gone on a tagent also lol. DVD rant lol.

Perfect! There’s an Uncut Special Edition! For hardly 10 quid. Now what did I just say? ^o^

Shuya Nanahara is played by the same actor who played Raito Yagami in Deathnote. Cos he is one of the only Japanese actors I remember alot he was my first choice for Raito when I heard they were making a DN movie lol.

So depending on how fast I watch and return my current Jackie Chan DVD, they should ship “Royale” to me in about a week. Good enuff? Ahhh, I’ve seen those “Death Note” films, so I should easily recognize that *wimpy* (yup, wimpy) Shuya by face, if not by name, lol. Hehe, nice… Special Edition, FTW!
So here’s the *lucky* junior-high class chosen for the Program.
And without spoiling it too much, here are a few scenes from the first 19 minutes of the film. Just a bloody taste of this Japanese cult classic!
Like I said, that’s only in the first 19 minutes of the film! Freaking shocking! Especially for me. I threw the DVD into the player without any expectations. Since I’m familiar with the term “battle royale” from my adolescent days of following pro wrestling, I thought it would be just like that. Just a bunch of people battling it out. Like simple hand-to-hand combat. That’s all. No blood, no death, no harm. Damn, I couldn’t be more wrong, lol. Yet as one who rarely watches these types of films, despite all that, I’m still giving this film 4 out of 5 stars! Bloody unexpected!
Part 2 of 4. Pirates of the Fornication. Beware! From ugly violence to utter sex, we enter the world of adult films, lol. Now as one who regularly downloads music, sci-fi and anime from the world wide web, the title “Pirates XXX” has popped up on numerous occasions. And favorably so. Whoa, curious! So why not download it? That was last December. After finishing “Battle Royale” this past Friday, I finally took a sneaking peek at “Pirates XXX” (2005). And while I’ve only seen the first half of it as I write this, if you pardon the expression, I was blown away, lol. If you choose to purchase the film (which I didn’t), here’s the stunning cover of the DVD below.
After watching the first hour, I was surprised by the big-budget quality for an adult film! None of that shaky home-video crap, lol. Plus, while maybe 90% of the total time in a typical American or Japanese AV (adult video) may be comprised of sexual acts, I’d say no more than 25% of “Pirates XXX” portrayed sex scenes. Definitely unusual! Yeah, of course, there were the usual set of bad actresses, but there were some pretty convincing even comedic actors too! And quite a few well-chosen extras to complete the look and atmosphere without requiring any sexual play. Not to mention the fairly decent use of ship-and-sea special effects! Yup, special effects, lol.
In fact, upon further research, I discovered that in 2005, “Pirates XXX” (Wiki) was the most expensive pornographic film in history. At a cost of over $1 million USD. And I admit, it really shows. Since then, it has earned dozens of awards (link NSFW) across all categories. “The best-selling, most award-winning adult film of all time, with over 40 international awards and 14 AVN Awards.” No wonder it’s one of the most celebrated adult films in history! There’s even an edited R-rated version, lol. After I finish this huge-ass mega-post, I should finish the second hour, hahaha.
But not only that, an even bigger sequel was released in 2008! And according to the “Pirates XXX” official website (link NSFW), the sequel “Pirates II: Stagnetti’s Revenge” (Wiki) cost ten times the previous budget! That means $10 million USD, obliterating the previous record of the first film! Do I sound impressed? LOL, who cares if I never saw Johnny Depp’s “Pirates of the Caribbean” trilogy? Part 3 of 4. Gals of Kanon. Hahaha, time for the main event! We now jump from one form of adult entertainment to figures based on another form of adult entertainment! Triggered by yet another blog-versation with Meimi132-chan last week, I finally found some precious time to undertake a massive four-figure photoshoot with none other than the unforgettable girls of the “Kanon” adult visual novel and anime series.

Sorry, M-chan, but I gotta disagree, lol. Kotobukiya rules the “Kanon” series. Although I must agree that Max Factory’s red-headed “Makoto” is probably the sweetest of the bunch. And overall, I think it was worth it. There’s a more profound psychological layer beneath the bloodshed. haha, to the Battle Royale. I enjoy the mindless blood bath as long as many people are dying in bulk and there’s gotta be dismemberment of something. If it’s something as weird as I don’t know holding hands and jumping onto the tracks on an incoming subway train while the Irish folklore music plays in the back, I am more like “WTF” than anything else.
As for the Pirates movie, I’d have to say that that is one of the best looking porn movies in terms of quality AND they actually tried to include an actual plot. Bless those porn film makers hearts. I suppose they wanted to be different and break away from the backyard antics that tend to summarize the norm in porn flicks today. We’ve downloaded a bunch of stuff and there is constant advertisement of “Download XX this and that”. One caught my eye and my curiosity insisted on me knowing what type of plot was gonna be in this movie. Da Vinci Load. Cheesy, but it was pretty funny how it was a mystery. It’s good for laughs and I highly recommend the download. I mean, ‘clairvoyance of c–k’, lol.

There’s an attempt at a plot involving Julius Caesar, politics and deception, but not as solid as “Pirates”. And sadly, the sex comprises a larger percentage than the story. Not to mention, most of the foreign stars have their voices dubbed with more Americanized accents, which is rather amusing yet annoying at times, lol.

So, I’ve heard of Battle Royale. The thing is, I haven’t watch it yet! Maybe the thought of guts breaking apart and gore-galore wasn’t my cuppa-of-tea back then (2 years ago, to be exact). I could catch it sometime soon, but maybe when I’m not eating. I remember watching “Machine Girl” last year, and have the exact same feeling when watching that movie while having a Big Mac in my guts! Not a happy sight, I’ll tell you… ToT
Hmm, I remember catching Pirates back then in 2005. No doubt it’s a pron movie, but when it comes to big budget adult films, this one tops the list. Haven’t got around catching up on the sequel but my feelings tell me that I can’t watch adult films anymore. 2D-girls for me at the moment… ^^;

I agree. Just finished “Pirates” tonight. The final fight and battle scenes were actually entertaining as well! Really? No more 3D? Ah, but u could rationalize that watching 3D could “clear the palate” for more enjoyable 2D, lol.

@J85: Hehe, no hurry, no worries, dude. To tell the truth, since I watch anime or films with my dinner (and/or ice cream) almost every day, I think eating actually helps to *tone down* the violence! In other words, maybe the everyday triviality of a meal distracts me from the full force of being *really absorbed* 100% into the film. Makes sense?… As for storylines, “Pirates XXX” might be the best attempt in recent (if not all) history, for its genre, of course. Then again, 2D hentai would probably be a better comparison than 2D mainstream. In this case, despite my limited viewing of 2D hentai, the best storyline would still have to go to “Bible Black” so far, lol… Ahh, really? Didn’t know Makoto became so rare so quickly! Harvest Moon is a series of EPIC farming games. So-so fun. Addictive as hell. And its got a visual novel-type part too. (The whole finding a wife(/husband, in the later games) thing.) In the game on PS1, Back to Nature, the girl was a more important part, cos when the main character was little he met a girl while he was staying at his grandfathers farm. So he hopes to meet that girl again.
Ever since I’ve been playing them I’ve been the boy character. In the first game I played you could choose gender but not getting married, in the PS1 game you couldn’t choosed the gender, you were just a guy. The DS one you couldn’t choose, but the guys weren’t cute enough anyways…. called my character Kyle(as always) and going for the most Popuri or Karen-like girl. Though I think I was wooing the mermaid on the DS version lol. They released a DS Cute, which was the same game, you just play as a girl instead lol. Theres a few new ones coming out aswell in Japan. All so cute looking… (Bit of a rant I know…)

Typically, we’re talking about the *lipstick* variety, lol. Secondly, *bi* women may be grouped with the *lipstick* lesbians too, lol…. Ready? Now, let’s take a theoretical male spectator “S”. If he sees attractive girl “X” in a sexual situation, he’d probably find it arousing. However, unless girl “X” is playing with herself, she must be with one of two genders. If “X” is with a guy, “S” would probably be distracted, consciously or subconsciously. Some more distracted than others. I don’t think guys particularly want to see other guys having sex unless the girl is the primary focus, lol. That’s why a guy’s face may usually be off-camera in an adult video. Or a guy may be roughly detailed, or have hair-concealed eyes in a hentai scene. But if girl “X” is paired with *another* just-as-arousing girl “Y”, then not only is the guy-distraction 100% eliminated, there’s another girl to double the arousal from the reciprocal Y-to-X direction! Makes sense? Hope this didn’t sound too much like a math or science class!
Hehe, true, but sacrificing Willis was the most dramatic gut-wrenching path to take. At least he survives in the timeless “Fifth Element’, lol. LOL, this “Harvest Moon” series sounds genuinely intriguing. Actually, I shouldn’t tease u about playing as “Kyle” (as in Kyle MacLachlan?) because I definitely enjoyed playing as Lara Croft in “Tomb Raider I”, “II” and bits of “III” (for PC), lol. I’d grown quite protective of Lara! In fact, I’ve enjoyed *playing* female characters in my own “Firefly” fanfics, lol. Such as the niece-type “Miriam” and the Anglo-Asian genius-pilot “Lucky”. Hmmm, so maybe it’s the allure of exploring the mysterious mind-and-heart of the opposite sex???

It isn’t enough for the actual figure lighting. Oddly, for this “Kanon” shoot, my external flash unit didn’t work out as well as the Rebel XT’s built-in flash. Yup, the built-in flash, lol. But I’m satisfied. ^_^

Ahh, I took a different strategy. After watching the return with Episode 11 (damn!), I went back to the beginning of Season 4, Episode 1… So I’ve been running the treadmill nightly for every half-hour since then, lol. Now up to the 2nd-half of Episode 9. Once I tackle Episode 10 again, then I can jump forward and finish 12, 13, and 14, hehe. Since I don’t have cable, I should be able to download 15 in a couple days. No worries. But your anger intrigues me! ^_^

@FlyingBlow: Haha, sorry to hear that, dude! Even with today’s post-and-comment auto-saves, I still can’t trust them 100%. So I write them in Notepad or TextEdit before I copy-and-paste them to the blog. Usually.
But damn, 4:50 minutes is a pretty huge cut. I wonder which parts? Maybe the most-violent bits, a few seconds here, another five seconds there, etc… As for porn, maybe u haven’t been exposed to enough of it to distinguish between the “enhanced” starlets, haha. What do u mean by average? Even if we discount the amateur or backyard genre, there are still “natural” stars in the bigger-budget productions. But not too many, lol. Having said that, they aren’t clones either. There are indeed variations. Taking “Pirates”, there were about a half-dozen featured actresses. But for me, only 1 or 2 really stood out. There was a darker-haired Spanish-Mexican type, not featured on the cover, who was particularly hot. And then there’s the main star Jesse Jane, second from the left on the cover. She’s a high-powered machine! While the rest of the cast seemed kinda quiet or mediocre in comparison, lol. So it’s not just looks, it’s enthusiasm, charisma, and yes, even acting ability!
P.S. But if u want to talk about clones, let’s talk about “Kanon” or “Clannad” and measure their eyes, faces and bodily dimensions, haha. Regarding “Kino”, it was my Soul-Haunting Honorable Mention of 2007! And try pre-posting in Notepad or TextEdit, lol.
