Okay, enough with the high-school childishness, lol. Bring on the full-figured women of cyberpunk sci-fi! For this post, I introduce one of my newest and rarest pieces, the raven-haired 1/6-scale “Motoko Kusanagi Hard Disk” (in resin) based on the original 1991 sci-fi manga Ghost in the Shell by Masamune Shirow. Sculpted by Yoshimasa Nakao and released by ALPHA, Motoko stretches to a towering 13-inches tall.

In addition, I welcome the return of one of my earliest pieces in May 2006, the lavender-haired 1/8-scale “Galhound” (in PVC) from the 1992 color-illustrated artbook Intron Depot, also by Masamune Shirow. Released by Yamato, Galhound stands about 7 inches tall. One background note: While Galhound wasn’t the first figure I acquired, she was the first figure that caught my eye before I ever thought of starting a collection. You could even say she planted the idea in my head!

As of this post, both figures are pretty rare on eBay or otherwise. Furthermore, it’s interesting to note Masamune’s fascination with black, silver, and purple color schemes. Not that I mind. LOL!… In this Canon photoshoot, I saved 45 shots, then narrowed it down to 35 shots.

Otakurl it!

    Hello Sir,
I was searching for information about my figure and found it on your site. Mine has clear legs and the number 00506 followed by an “A” sticker on the inside box lid. Any information you could provide that would help me detemine a value for this piece would be an immense help.
    Thank you in advance.
    Robert

Hmmm, I can’t find a similar number on my “Hard Disk” box, but I purchased my version on eBay for $60 USD (plus $26 shipping and handling), back in Feb-Mar 2007. During this same period, I also saw other “HD” versions (clear and non-clear legs) on eBay getting bids as high as $125.

I just did a search on eBay Express; “cccentral” is selling the statue for $110.00 USD (plus $9.95 shipping). However, the description says “11 inches” while mine is about 13 inches from the base to the top of her hand. That one could be a “fake” although I have no details on the differences besides size… Then there’s “syayu” on eBay Express selling a 9-inch version for $500 USD (plus $9.99 shipping). Are they serious? Check out this hilarious rant: http://blogs.ebay.com/herrlobster

So it depends. About $100 USD is probably a good ballpark number. Sorry I couldn’t narrow it down. In any case, good luck! ^_^
