• The idea to give the name "Nosferatu" to a hovercraft first sprung from the film
"The Matrix Reloaded"
and its discussion of vampires and werewolves. "Nosferatu" is a great vampire name for an ancient hovercraft. |

• The original name "Nosferatu" was taken from the first screen adaptation and definitive film version of Bram Stoker's
classic novel "Dracula," stylistically directed by the legendary German director, F.W. Murnau. Created when German silent
films were at the forefront of visual technique and experimentation, Murnau's 1922 classic is remarkable for its creation of
mood and setting, and for the unforgettably creepy performance of Max Schreck as Count Orlok, a.k.a. the blood-sucking
predator Nosferatu. With his rodent-like features and long, bony-fingered hands, Schreck's vampire is an icon of screen
horror, bringing pestilence and death to the town of Bremen in 1838.
• "...and it was in 1443 that the first Nosferatu was born. That name rings like the cry of a bird of prey.
Never speak it aloud... Men do not always recognize the dangers that beasts can sense at certain times." --From the
transcribed script of the 1922 film, "Nosferatu."
• "But whoever blasphemes against the Holy Spirit will never be forgiven; he is guilty of an
eternal sin." --Mark 3:29, as symbolized in the plaque markings.
