THE NEWCOMER

[Path A2B. Stop eating. Who is the shadow?]
"What?" Cyberreyn wonders out loud, rubbing her bloodshot blue-gray eyes. "Hello? Flicker, is that you?"
She returns her tired attention to the pile of processed protein poop -- that is, soup. But the odd shadow along the wall of pipes awakens her curiosity. Leaving the tin can on the table, she inches quietly toward the mess-hall entrance. Squinting slightly, her eyes follow the vague movement. Peeking around the corner, she steps silently.
"WHO is that?" she mouths to herself. "Or WHAT is that?" she adds. Outside the mess hall, she seems to recognize something... there's something familiar about the shadow... could that be...
Then behind her, "Hi, Cy!"
"Aah!" Cyberreyn bursts in surprise. "What the fuck?"
"What's going on?" asks Sky, the second officer onboard the Nosferatu. "Did I scare you?"
Cyberreyn begins to answer truthfully, but catches herself. "Nah, it's nothing... just trying... trying to figure out what to eat. That's all."
"Yeah, I know what you mean," Sky pulls a strand of her blond hair away from her green eyes. "When the captain first unplugged me, I too had the nightmares, the sleepless nights, the unending doubts... and that was just over the FOOD."
Cyberreyn smiles. Turning slightly, she sees that the strange shadowy movements have gone.
Following the newcomer's eyes, Sky searches along the maze of metal pipes. She turns her eyes back to Cyberreyn. "Are you sure you're OK?"
Choose Path A2B1 for Cy to say "Y-Yeah, I'm fine."
