First contact is Crystal. When Libertad is ready, Kan-chiang offers the red pill. Mission is successful. However, the Nosferatu is heavily damaged by Sentinels. Due to the use of its EMP, the Nosferatu is jump-charged by the hovercraft Rosicrucian (nicknamed Rose) before returning to Zion. This mission is Jayman's and Crystal's fourth rescue mission together. This mission is Fall's, Andromeda's, and Avalon's first rescue mission together. Libertad, only 15 years old, is freed by the Nosferatu and taken to Zion. Upon arrival at the Zion dock, the damaged port catwalk collapses as Kan-chiang steps across it. He suffers massive injuries. Referred to as the "Accident." The crew is devastated. Avalon blames herself for not being able to save her captain. Jayman is promoted by the Zion Fleet Commander as a result of Kan-chiang's death. Due to his past relationship with Crystal, Jayman chooses Lt. Fall over Lt.
