"OK, but you will need to be trained soon. I hate to say this, but this is not a vacation. We really need your help and from the work we've done so far, even though it's only been a couple sessions, I am already impressed with your progress. Let me know when you change your mind. Mind you, I might have to insist later that we do a session."
"OK, Captain." Then, for some reason, Cy remembers a fragment of a poem. "O Captain, My Captain." She considers saying it out loud, but blushes at the idea.
Cy starts down the ladder, one step, slowly the second. Easy does it for the third and even more timidly for the fourth. Then she stops. "This is ridiculous," she thinks to herself. What would Captain Kan-chiang think of her if she couldn't master the fear of going down a stupid ladder? Even though the drop is only ten feet or so, she still has trouble shaking her nightmare. Should she try anyway?
