\ni stopped at the pub
\nand hopped on the stool<\/p>\n

a bearded bloke bumped me
\nwithout any pardon
\nand slapped on the smile
\nof a half-plastered fool<\/p>\n

“she purrs like a kitten!”
\nhe boasted to his comrades,
\n“the shriek of her wheels!
\nthe roar of her engine!”<\/p>\n

i heard myself laugh
\nand sipped from my draft
\nand slipped into a dream
\nof speed and abandon<\/p>\n

fifty and sixty
\nand seventy and eighty
\nkilometers per hour
\nheartbeats per minute<\/p>\n

ninety and one hundred
\nand one-ten and one-twenty
\nand one-thirty and one-forty
\nand one-fifty and faster!<\/p>\n

the laughter awoke me
\nand spun me around,
\ni searched for my words
\nand cut through the chatter<\/p>\n

“she sounds like a beauty!”
\ni burst loud and clear,
\n“what make and model?
\na porsche or an audi?”<\/p>\n

the bearded bloke chuckled
\nbut offered his answer,
\n“you misunderstand fella,
\nwhy not ask her yourself?”<\/p>\n

his girlfriend dazzled
\nin her half-zipped denim
\nwhile her wide eyes flashed
\nwith the wild shade of “go!”<\/p>\n

“what make and model?”
\nshe purred like a kitten,
\n“my make is russian,
