My anime-figure photoshoots since the Kiddy Grade<\/em> (Nov 2006) set were taken with a Canon EOS 350D Digital Rebel XT<\/strong> camera, using a Dell 2007WFP 20.1-inch Widescreen Flat Panel LCD<\/strong> monitor to display the different backgrounds. <\/p>\n

It’s a surprisingly simple setup; no special high-end lighting was necessary. Instead, I just used: (1) a desk lamp which sits about one or two feet to the left of the figures, (2) a second desk lamp which sits several feet above the figures, and (3) while not likely a factor, a 4-bulb ceiling fan which hangs about 8 feet from the floor (maybe 10-12 feet on a diagonal from the setup). However, these three sources don’t provide the primary lighting. If anything, they just add some extra highlights or texture, such as yellowish tinges or reflections along the edges of the figures, while the in-built Canon flash supplies the main lighting. <\/p>\n

Finally, other than resizing, watermarking, or deleting a glaring dust-fiber, I do admit “photoshopping” the lighting in the poorer-lit shots, which comprise 10-20% of the total photos. Otherwise, all of the colors and clarity you see come directly from the camera!<\/p>\n
