@Kris-chan: LOL, ahh, don't worry. Just teasing, haven't you noticed? ^_~

Well, seems like manga-Soshi evolved into the too-comfortable "brotherly" type for Riiko-chan. Which isn't typically romantic or sexy, lol. In fact, it's stereotypically interpreted as "dorky". Ah, but a robot who can momentarily and mysteriously make one forget he's a robot, now there's some irrational appeal in that! Many would say that, by definition, love is irrational after all.

Haha, yeah, sorry. :( I don't think I gave anything super big away, though, lol.

Also, in the manga, Soshi is the OLDER brother. I'm not sure why they switched it around for the LA. They even switched which one of them wore glasses! Because they live next door to each other, and because Riiko's parents are gone a lot, Soshi basically takes care of her. He brings her food and helps her clean (she's pretty sloppy and unorganized), he protects her when she's in trouble and stands up for her, etc. He's been in love with her for years, but it takes Night to push Soshi to do something about it, because he's afraid of losing her. Seriously, I felt SO bad for Soshi. There he is, practically throwing himself at Riiko, totally in love, and she just wants some stupid robot. It's totally heart breaking.

@Kris-chan: Yeah-yeah, who cares about spoilers! Sorry, everyone, for our animated spoiler-saturated discussions!

Soshi, hmm. The manga-Soshi pipsqueak? Or the live-action-Soshi pipsqueak? They both sound like "little brothers" lacking attention. Ahh, just teasing your dreamy fantasies... Of course, you never know, Soshi or Hiro Mizushima might be fooling everyone as the *original-original* robot lover, lol... Hahaha! But can't wait for you to reach live-action "Gokusen 2", so you can enjoy Hiro's brief appearances in his snazzy school uniform!

@Jay-san:
Well I did enjoy the live action Zettai Kareshi. And the manga wasn't terrible; it was cute, mindless fluff. That stuff is OK every now and then. Plus, like I said, SOSHI. Soshi is all I needed, really. I wish guys like that really existed, because he's ideal.

Live action Riiko is decidedly different from manga Riiko though. LA Riiko has goals (that whole pâtissier thing...until, you know, the end where she ditches it for a robot), and she's very kind and caring. Kind of motherly in a way even. Manga Riiko has few redeeming features; she's not very intelligent, she's pretty much a ditz, she's fairly plain looking, and she goes looking for a love doll when a perfectly amazing guy lives RIGHT NEXT DOOR to her. The manga's entire plot line involves everyone trying to get Riiko to have sex with Night, sometimes even Riiko herself. There's not much else going on; the LA has all the story lines involving the pastry contest, and Soshi wanting to rebuild the company his grandfather created, etc. All manga Riiko does to Soshi is use him, take advantage of him, walk all over him, and string him along. And when they were little she bullied him a lot! At least LA Riiko supports him and helps him with his dreams. Plus, HIRO MIZUSHIMA. *dreamy sigh*

And yes, yes! Watch Gokusen LA, Duckie. Gonna watch episode 3 later tonight before bed.

@Kris-chan: Hmmm, I guess I got a different impression of your "Zettai" reactions after all, lol. I guess we'll leave it up to Duckie-chan. In any case, I was impressed with the live-action. Not necessarily with the initial episodes, but with the overall development and build-up towards the climactic ending... Awww, glad that you love the "Gokusen" live-action too! Now *you* (not just me) can recommend it to Duckie-chan, haha. ^_^

Actually I wouldn't say I "loved" the Absolute Boyfriend manga. It would never make my "favorites" list. I read it for Soshi (and Gaku, who is much younger and hilarious in the manga). I didn't like Riiko much at all; I think she's a pretty poor heroine honestly.
I was very upset with the manga's ending, too. It just emphasized what a horrible, shallow character Riiko really was.
Live action Riiko was better though.

ps -
Manga Gaku:

Just started the live action Gokusen. It's so funny and I love it!

@Duckie-chan: Yup, live-action! Well, if you've read Kris-chan's comments, not only here on Blog 213, but especially in Blog 208, she loved the manga, but hated how different the live-action characters and story turned out. I think that's fair to say, lol... But since I've never touched the manga, I can't compare the two. Then again, maybe I shouldn't! After all, I gave the live-action version 5 of 5 stars!

Haha, yeah, Yukie-chan is pretty cute! The star of the live-action "Gokusen"! Gotta check it out some time! But I don't think her blue-green bikini is too bad. Depending on the angle, lol. So you'll have a model what you think would be a better bikini. Just so I get a better idea. That's all, lol. ^_~
