post 371 ~ final centerpiece in place!
- setup ~ on wed, july 26th (yesterday), picked up my new 2007WFP and set it at the corner of my desk configuration… hooked it up to my Inspiron laptop as a desktop extension… and voila, all done! that’s it!… no drivers to install (since both components were DELL), and no adjustments to the display!… didn’t notice ANY banding issues that have been hyped on the web…
- clarity ~ as you can see, superb clarity!… the best part is that i can move my viewing position, side to side, up and down, with no degradation in the brightness of the display!… unlike some laptops and flat panels, where the screen dims if you don’t look directly straight-on… awesome!
- resolution ~ the best surprise was that since both components were DELL, my laptop recognized the widescreen immediately… and not at the laptop’s 1280×800, but at the full widescreen’s 1680×1050!!!… and since i thought the monitor couldn’t exceed the laptop’s resolution, this was totally unexpected! ;)
- swivel ~ if i needed to, i could also swivel the screen so it’s oriented vertically, instead of horizontally… but i don’t think i’ll ever need to do that ;)
- rating ~ final rating, i give 5 of 5 stars!… and after credits, it’s only a net cost of $60, haha… plus the letterboxed “ergo proxy” looks amazing on it… aren’t ya jealous? ;)))

sweet! aww, i’m jealous — i just set up my home pc last night at the new house and i had to grumble about the 25-lb 19″ CRT monitor. husband dropped his pc by mistake and said “oh no, i guess i’ll have to buy a mac now” to which i replied “NO FAIR!” i’m sure it’s fine, but i still sure would like a drool-worthy widescreen flat panel.

lol, looks can be deceiving ;)
only 1 laptop w/screen, 1 desktop w/monitor, and the new widescreen… so there’s only 2 computers… since we seem to be counting, hehe ;)

thanx ;)
for years, i’ve eaten on the floor in front of the TV… but ever since the laptop this january, the floor has been a new friend… i no longer use our full desks/armoires for working, so no need for chairs, and the area is more open…
must be the influence of japanese everyday life… so simple ;)

lol, but i’m still jealous of your 23″ widescreen at work; might encourage me to telecommute less (but why would i want that?)… haha, yeah, i still have a black 19″ CRT lying around, plus two SONY 15″ CRTs (ancient, almost 10 years old!), not to mention 3 or 4 desktop towers decaying in the garage ;)
but since i don’t keep up-to-date with macs, what are the drool-worthy macs out there now?

we have a spark station. i win. macbook pro (laptop), although i’ve not really compared the desktop models much. i’m sure they don’t compare to the processing power of a homebuilt pc, but osx is to die for.

wow, those macbook pro’s on apple.com are pricey!… unfortunately, couldn’t find the “spark station” or “iwin” (unless you meant “you won”, lol)… you’re definitely one of the richer LJ’ers on my f-list, so i can’t wait to see the new mac, hehe ;)
